Our History
1st Community Federal Credit Union celebrated our 70th Anniversary in 2023. 1st Community FCU was chartered June 8, 1953, with our first office located on Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas. We have grown to our current nine offices, with four in San Angelo and one each in Ballinger, Eldorado, Fort Stockton, Midland and Crane, Texas. We are a full-service financial cooperative providing friendly, personal service face-to-face, over the phone, through our app or online banking, over the Internet, or by mail. Our user-friendly technology makes it possible for us to serve our almost 23,000 members located worldwide. 1st Community has been voted “Best Credit Union” by the readers of the San Angelo Standard Times for the 24th year in a row. The driving force for the establishment and continued growth of 1st Community FCU has been to make credit union services available to everyone. Because we are a “member- owned”, democratically run, and not-for-profit cooperative, we are able to give back earnings to each member in the way of lower rates on loans, higher dividends, low-cost services, and 24/7 access to your account worldwide. The more services you use at the credit union, the greater the benefits you and all your fellow members receive.
Our mission is “people helping people achieve their financial goals.” We literally exist to meet the unique needs of each of our members.
Along with the mission of individual service, we also strive to be a good corporate citizen providing both financial and manpower support to organizations that improve the quality of all our lives. We hope each of you are proud to be a part of 1st Community FCU and are able to enjoy the financial services you need to make your life successful.
Remember – if you found something good wouldn’t you share it with your family and friends? Tell them about 1st Community FCU and let them take advantage of what being a “member” really means!
